Police escorted an north-central Idaho man to a local hospital Wednesday evening following an armed standoff with law enforcement.
This morning's Lewiston Tribune reports that Lewiston Police were alerted by the man's teenage daughter that her father was armed and was acting irrationally, making threats against himself and the police if they responded.
Lewiston Police closed off sections of the neighborhood and escorted the suspect's two daughters away from the home before SWAT negotiators convinced the man to put the handgun down. When police took the man into custody, they recovered a knife from the suspect's pocket.
It was determined that the man suffered from extreme anxiety and was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for a mental health evaluation.
