A 22-year-old north Idaho man is the latest Gem State soldier to be killed in action.

Spc. Ethan J. Martin died Aug. 7 in Koragay, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when his combat team encountered enemy fire. Martin was assigned to 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division out of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.

The Department of Defense listed Martin's home of record as Lewiston, although according to his family, the vast majority of his life was spent in Bonners Ferry.
