Former Legislator Jack Barraclough Dies


Eastern Idaho Republican lawmaker Jack Barraclough, who served seven terms at the Idaho Statehouse, died at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center July 24. He was 84.

The Idaho Post Register reports that Barraclough suffered a massive stroke earlier this month.

Barraclough represented Idaho Falls for 14 years in the Idaho House, serving as chairman of the House Education Committee in 2004.

Before his time at the Idaho Legislature, Barraclough was a project chief the with the U.S. Geological Survey. He authored numerous studies on hydrologic conditions at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory during the 1970s.

Barraclough is survived by eight children.
