Blackfoot Republican Steps Away From Idaho House

Eight-term Rep. Dennis Lake retiring from legislature.

Blackfoot Republican Rep. Dennis Lake is the latest legislator who won't be seeking re-election this year.

The eight-term lawmaker is the chairman of the House Revenue and Taxation Committee, and is a member of the House Agriculture and Commerce and Human Resources committees and was co-chair of the Joint Millenium Fund Committee.

In 2010 and again in 2011, Lake indicated that he was willing to debate a possible increase on cigarette taxes in Idaho, but the measure never saw a hearing.

Lake is a retired cattle rancher.
