Curt Fransen has been promoted from deputy director of the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality to become the agency's new director. Fransen replaces outgoing director Toni Hardesty, who, after leaving at the end of this week, will become the new Idaho director of the Nature Conservancy.
"I look forward to maintaining and advancing the high standards established at the department ... by director Toni Hardesty," said Fransen.
Fransen, a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara and the University of California's Hastings College of Law, has served at the DEQ since 2007. Previously he served as chief of the Environmental Quality Section with the Idaho Attorney General's Natural Resources Division.
