Numbers of Montana Medical Marijuana Users, Sellers Plummeting

Idahoans who would support the legalization of medical marijuana in the Gem State are keeping a close watch on Idaho's neighbors, including Oregon, Montana and Washington, where possession of pot is legal for card-carrying citizens.

But today's Missoulian reports that the number of medical marijuana cardholders in Montana "continues to plummet."

In January Montana had 15,984 medical marijuana cardholders registered with the state's medical marijuana program, the lowest monthly total since April 2010 [13,855] and dramatically less than the peak number in May 2011 when Montana cardholders totaled 31,522.

In January Montana counted 417 legal medical marijuana providers, those who grow and sell medical pot, after peaking at 4,848 in March 2011, according to the Missoulian.
