A wildfire has burned roughly 20 acres just north of Boise off Shaw Mountain Road, behind Table Rock in the Foothills.
The Rock Fire started early on Wednesday, Aug. 25, and is burning in Rocky Canyon across a mix of Bureau of Land Management state and private land. The cause is still under investigation, but crews from both the BLM and the City of Boise are actively fighting it with a squadron of planes, helicopters and ground crews.
Check back for updates as we get them.
UPDATE: As of noon, Boise officials report that the fire is contained and was limited to five acres rather than the originally estimated 20 to 40 acres.
