Idaho shadowed the national unemployment trend in July with an unchanged rate. Just over 66,600 Idahoans were listed as unemployed, representing an 8.8% jobless figure, the same as June. The rate peaked at 9.5% in February and had been steadily falling until July.
July 2010 saw about five thousand more Idahoans unemployed compared to a year ago, when the statewide jobless figure was 8.2% Hiring in July was 9% below July 2009, a record low since new hire statistics were first compiled.
Nationally, the July unemployment rate remained unchanged at 9.5%.
