There's a whole lot being said about kids these days: They're not active so they're turning into blobs. They're spending so much time inside, so they're not getting enough vitamin D from the sun. So how do you break the pale, weak-boned, overweight cycle? You get their butts outside an on a bike. Thanks to the B.Y.R.D.S. bicycling program, young people ages 6 to 18 are taught the ins and outs of putting power to the pedals. There are more than 140 members, each of whom gets personalized coaching, weekly training rides and a full season of racing, including travel to national and international competitions. So kids can not only be active, outside and in shape, but they might have some trophies and a few passport stamps to show for it.
