Best Local Tea

Shangri-La Tea Room and Vegetarian Restaurant

When a restaurant has "Tea Room" in its name, you can bet that it's steeping leaves that are out of the ordinary (in the best possible way). This is certainly true at Shangri-La, which actually has its own tea company, Divine Lotus Tea, and specializes in small-batch herbal and exotic blends. The husband-wife team behind the tea, Bob and Toni Hodge, not only believe it a delicious alternative to coffee, they even whip up custom blends with healing properties.

2nd Place: Snake River Tea—According to its website, Snake River Tea exists because "life is too short to drink bad tea." The defining feature of the shop, which is part tea room and part market, is the "tea wall," a floor to ceiling display of 110 teas that's sure to please even the most discerning palate. Grab a cup in the Main Street store or join the Tea Club for doorstep delivery.

3rd Place: Flying M Coffeehouse—Yes, Flying M is technically a coffeehouse, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have an impressive tea collection, too. If you can only choose one, the housemade chai, which perfectly balances sugar and spice, is a Boise favorite.
