Best Local Sports Team

Boise State Broncos (Football)

Nothing says "fan" quite like placing a boulder with a football team logo carved into it on one's lawn. That's a common sight in the Treasure Valley, where the team of choice is the Boise State Broncos. As the prestige of the university has grown, so has the success of its team, and in the last decade or so, high-drama seasons and nail-biter games have made the Broncos one of the hottest properties in the City of Trees.

2nd Place: Idaho Steelheads—Boise doesn't have the kind of climate where ponds freeze over and home-grown crops of hockey players train on the ice (usually, anyway), but the Idaho Steelheads minor league hockey team has taken root here, thanks to a fan base that knows hockey games as first-rate family entertainment lubricated by screaming deals on hot dogs and beer.

3rd Place: Boise Hawks—Baseball is as American as apple pie, and when the Tri-Cities Triplets, playing out of Richland, Wash., moved to the City of Trees in 1987, the team adopted a local name and took wing as the Boise Hawks. Catching a game in the waning hours of a summer day has been a rite of passage ever since.
