Best Local Radio Personality

Tim Johnstone

Although not technically a Boise native, over the years Johnstone's voice has become a dependable facet of the city's routine. Now comfortably ensconced as the program director and afternoon host for 94.9 The River, a local rock station, Johnstone has also worked for KBSU, Virgin Records and Boise's beloved Record Exchange. Beyond his top-notch radio work, he gives back to the community by volunteering at The Idaho Foodbank, The Boise Watershed, The Idaho Humane Society and other nonprofits.

2nd Place: Tawsha Box—Well known as a morning DJ for 103.5 Kiss FM, a local top-hits pop station, there's is more to Box than meets the ear. "I am a basic girl by nature who would love to be home in yoga pants watching Netflix but I'm always living in this middle ground area because I suffer from FOMO (fear of missing out) and really want to be where everyone else is," writes Box on her Kiss FM profile. When it comes to knowing what's happening in Boise, Box has listeners covered.

3rd Place: Mateo—Born in Nampa, Mateo Walling (known simply as "Mateo" to his listeners) has recently returned to the Treasure Valley to make a name for himself as a food and booze aficionado, the 103.5 Kiss FM nighttime music director and a proud cat dad. Catch him playing pop hits and cracking jokes 6 p.m.-midnight.
