Best Local Italian

This hole in the wall eatery consistently earns rave reviews, and for good reason—the food is served hot, made from fresh ingredients and piled high enough that leftovers are practically guaranteed. Apart from the stellar menu of traditional Italian food (and the life-changing bread that precedes it) it's the cozy environment that really sets Luciano's apart. Linen-draped tables, quiet music and attentive service encourage a leisurely meal and time to linger over drinks and desserts, just like in Italy.

2nd Place: Asiago's—A longtime favorite for both locals and visitors, Asiago's is "Italian-inspired" rather than true Italian, serving up old-school dishes with a modern American twist. Still, the motto of the menu, "There is no such thing as a little garlic," is enough to comfort any Italian grandmother.

3rd Place: Alavita—This gorgeous brick and chandelier-dotted space off Idaho Street takes authentic Italian to another level: The pasta is handmade on the premises, and even the water is served European style, without ice. If you're prepared to drop a pretty penny on an unforgettable dinner, it doesn't get much better than this.
