Best Local Happy Hour

An evening on the town with friends can leave you with a financial hangover. Barbacoa is the preventative medicine, with its happy hour, with BOGO drinks from 4-6 p.m. daily, and an app bar starting at 4 p.m.—making this east Boise hangout one of the most responsible places to head after work.

2nd Place: Juniper—Downtown Boise became measurably hipper after Juniper opened on Eighth Street. That's because of its two-for-one happy hour menu and drink specials on weekdays. Snag not one, but two Juni & the Jets (gin, St-Germain, grapefruit, simple syrup and sparkles) for $9, or grab a basket of pork belly fries (topped with gorgonzola cream and serrano peppers) for $6. On the happening-est street in town, the choice is clear.

3rd Place: Mai Thai—Tiki reigns on the Mai Thai drink menu, with island-inspired goodies like Mai Thai Old Way and Tiger Blossom among the finest drinks of their kind anywhere. They're great in singles, but on the weekend, who can have just one? With two-for-one specials all week long on drinks and special appetizer prices, it's the perfect place to Mai Thai one on.
