You can do a lot of things at the Vista Village: buy candy, pick up some cheese puffs at the dollar store, stock up on church supplies or sign up for Krav Maga classes. You can also grab a beer and engage in some friendly chat with the locals at the aptly named Bench Neighborhood Bar. There is, literally, no pretense at the Bench. The narrow space boasts a bar, a few tables and a TV or two. Six taps pour a mix of local micros and your standard big-name beers. A full liquor selection is on offer, but that's about it. What it lacks in square footage it makes for in joviality—and you'd better be ready to engage your fellow bar patrons if you swing by. Close quarters make for fast friends.
