When: Tuesdays, 8:15-9:15 p.m. Continues through Sept. 23 2008
The beginning class taught by Sarah Durney and Jeanne Rogers covers the following lessons: The first week Sept. 2: covers the history, music, etiquette and philosophy of tango with a focus on walking, rock-step and balance. During week two (Sept. 9) the instruction is on finding your legs and covers walking for leads and follows. During week three (Sept. 16), dancers will work on finding their hearts with a discussion on having an open, light heart and being available to the new and unfamiliar with a focus on Ochos. The last week (Sept. 23) covers tango nirvana with listening, observing and navigating the floor. The focus on the ocho cortada, leading to the cross, maintaining your center and your balance and not anticipating.
