Just ahead of the Tuesday, Aug. 18 release of their third full-length LP, You Can't Take It With You, New York-based As Tall As Lions plays Neurolux tonight.
On the new release, ATAL's soaring vocals, oft-dreamy soundscapes and luxuriously layered orchestral pop are all firmly in place and playfully punctuated by hand slaps on a keyboard flight case, singing through a megaphone, dissonant piano, distorted guitar and chopsticks on a Coke bottle. The music is, in a word, gorgeous.
ATAL opens for MuteMath this fall, not surprising as the two bands have a similar aesthetic.

Tonight with Mousy Brown and James Orr, 8 p.m., $8 advance, $10 door, neurolux.com.
