Above the Rim Gallery invites artists from Idaho and Washington to submit art for a juried exhibit related to the theme of Whimsy. The show will be exhibited during Moscow Artwalk 2009 from June 12-Aug. 22. The juror is Ellen Vieth, curator of the Lewis and Clark Art and History Center in Lewiston. The selected works will be exhibited with an installation of art dolls by Moscow artists Ruby Valentine and Karen Lewis. All 2D media welcome—painting, drawing, printmaking, fiber, collage, photography, graphic design, calligraphy, illustration and mixed media. In 3D media, the gallery will accept wall-mounted sculpture and assemblage, ceramics and book works displayed on a wall shelf, and jewelry encased in a frame. Artists may submit up to three pieces for consideration. The artwork may be as small as a postage stamp, but no larger than 12 inches wide x 15 inches long x 9 inches deep. The weight limit is 15 pounds. All work must be framed and ready for installation with hardware and wire included. The postmark deadline for mailed artwork is Tuesday, May 5. Artists will be notified of the results before noon on May 15.
