- Treefort Music Fest
For Boise fans of alternative music, the Treefort Launch Party is second only to Treefort Music Fest itself. To date, just shy of 330 people have RSVPed on Facebook to the Saturday evening event.
This year's launch takes place at El Korah Shrine Saturday, Feb. 6, beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10, and are on sale now.
Headlining the show is Portland, Ore.-based post pop-punk trio The Thermals, which has released six albums in the past 10 years.
Fellow Portlanders Clarke and the Himselfs recently released their LP, The Well-Rounded, and will join the party along with up-and-coming Boise-based band Toy Zoo.
The event triggers a countdown to the music festival, which is slated for March 23-27. Already, festival organizers have released two artist announcements totaling 170 bands, with more to come. Music acts that have already signed on include Built to Spill, Y La Bamba and Youth Lagoon, whose front man Trevor Powers recently announced on Facebook the band's upcoming tour—including Treefort—will be its last:
