The Associated Press reports that the latest comes from Anthony Varriano, a reporter for the bi-weekly newspaper Glendive Ranger Review in eastern Montana's Dawson County. Varriano's proposed initiative would amend the Montana Constitution to allow recreational marijuana for adults 21 and older and the first $40 million in annual revenue to go toward public schools. Varriano needs a minimum of 50,000 signatures to be placed on the 2016 election ballot, according to the AP.
Montana already allows legalized medical marijuana following a 2004 voter-approved measure. To date, the AP reports that 11,717 Montanans are enrolled in that state's medical marijuana program.
