The 2010 season of Alive After Five may be winding down, but its stellar roster of artists sure isn’t. As it should be, AAF intends to go out with a bang. And though it may be hard to top the incredible performance the Budos Band delivered two weeks ago, San Francisco’s The Stone Foxes are the band for the job.
The Stone Foxes are a group of 20-somethings with a modern approach to classic blues-rock. They are known for their engaging live performances, and as is San Francisco tradition, their killer jams too. The band cites Led Zeppelin, The Band and the Rolling Stones as reference, and has been compared to the likes of The Black Keys, Jack White and The Black Crowes. They’re currently touring behind their latest album Bears & Bulls, which was released independently on July 6.
The record earned some pretty decent reviews, with NPR stating, “The Stone Foxes have an energetic style that’s rooted in swampy, foot-stomping blues-rock ... Bears & Bulls tackles ambitious arrangements with diverse moods ranging from acoustic twang to thunderous electric-guitar riffs.”
Local songstress and BW award winner Rebecca Scott will be there to kick things off with her unique brand of folk rock.
