Recently, the City of Boise announced its own solution to the dilemma of China not accepting recyclable plastics. In the coming weeks, Boise households will begin receiving special orange bags and instructions of how to recycle certain plastics. The new program will see many of Boise's recyclable plastics sent to Salt Lake City-based Renewlogy which will repurpose the plastics.
Meanwhile, much of the rest of Ada County doesn't have a solution. That's why Ada County Commissioners are asking the public to participate in a new recycling survey, available by clicking here. Additionally, a public meeting on the issue has been set for Wednesday, April 18, at 6 p.m. at the Ada County Courthouse.
Before any possible rate increase would be considered by commissioners, officials say they need public input "to gain a better understanding of how they feel about these proposed changes."
