Aage Nielsen: Danish Songs and Dances

Douçaine specialist Aage Nielsen performs with contralto Grayson Braxton of Petaluma, Calif., vielle and viola player Marjory Lange of Salem, Ore., as well as Idaho musicians organist Sean Rogers, bassoonist Donovan Schatz and clarinetist Taggart Lewis. The program features many of Aage’s arrangements of Danish fiddle tunes, medieval ballads, rich Renaissance polyphonic works of Truid Aagesen, popular songs by Carl Nielsen, and jazz standards by Bent Fabricius-Bjerre, sometimes known as Bent Fabric, of “Alley Cat” fame.
