The Boise Fire Department responded to a three-alarm fire at an apartment complex on North Lakeharbor Lane in the early morning hours of July 5. The fire, which displaced several families and left one person requiring treatment for a breathing issue by Ada County Paramedics, is believed to have been caused by fireworks. People displaced by the fire are being helped by the Boise FIrefighters Burnout Fund.

In all, between July 4 and July 5, Boise Fire crews responded to 13 fires: four are confirmed to have been caused by fireworks, four were not caused by fireworks and the remaining five are under still under investigation.

The Lakeharbor apartment complex fire, which started on a second story balcony and advanced to the attic via a third-floor unit, is believed to have been caused by teenagers setting off fireworks nearby.

The number of fireworks-related fires in 2017 is lower than in 2016, when 10 fires on July 4 and the early morning of July 5 were reported.

Anyone with information about the Lakeharbor fire is being asked to call 208-343-2677.
