A gaggle of geese slowed me down as I turned onto Rivervista Place in Riverside Village near Glenwood Boulevard. Rivervista is a landscaped cul de sac, and this house is right on the Boise River. The back yard is fully fenced in black iron. The house, which is two stories, is sided in taupe siding and decorative shingles, accented in brick and tan wood trim, and roofed in black cedar. The driveway and front walk are brick and the property is nicely landscaped with bushes and mature pines and a dogwood.

A covered entryway leads to an elegant front door with sidelights. Immediately inside is a reception area floored in rich mahogany which leads to a sunken, carpeted living room with a two-story vaulted ceiling. Connected is a cozy sitting area around a brick fireplace plus a wide window seat under skylights. A step up leads to the formal dining room with sliders leading to the back deck.

Next door is the redone kitchen with slab granite counters, a breakfast bar on the island, a double oven and stainless steel appliances. This room connects to a family room that includes a second brick fireplace, an area for firewood and a niche for a television set. A desk and other built-ins provide storage. The dining room, kitchen and den are floored in off-white tile.

A corridor leads to a three-car garage. Off this hallway is a bedroom, a bathroom with a shower surrounded with lovely tan tile and mosaics, and a storage room with closets, a deep sink and a pantry.

Returning to the entryway an open carpeted stairway leads to a vaulted loft area with an enormous skylight. To the back of the house, double doors lead to an impressive master suite. There's a very pretty third fireplace in the sitting area, surrounded by off-white tile. Sliders lead to a deck facing the river. The master bathroom has a lovely claw foot tub with gold feet facing corner windows which are equipped with blinds that lower or rise when privacy is desired. There's a walk-in shower and double sinks.

Also on the second floor are three more bedrooms, one of which is quite large with a slider leading to a deck at the front of the house. There's a hall bathroom on this floor with a tub/shower combination and more lovely tan tile and mosaics. The utility room is next door. As an extra on the front of the house is a large, vaulted bonus room painted maroon with a beautiful slab granite wet bar which includes an ice cube dispenser. There's another beautiful hardwood floor in this room. The room fits a pool table and another game table, and it also has sliders out to the front deck.

There's a generous side yard on the living room side of the house, and a dog run on the other side of the house. The back deck is partially covered with a roof and partially covered with beams that let light in. A gate leads to the Riverside Village walkway along the river.

The rugs in the house are light brown and the walls are painted cream, taupe and other warm colors. Two furnaces and air conditioners provide two zones of comfort in the house. The house has a security alarm system and central vacuum.

Pros: I knew I would see something special when I came to this house, and I wasn't disappointed. It's wonderful with plenty of room for a family, and a good floor plan for parties. I like the house's exterior angular lines, the decorative shingles and the wrought iron fence. The inside is big but still very warm and cozy.

Cons: I would buy flood insurance.
