"What's great about that screwdriver—it's like my dad thought I was trapped in a literal closet," she told the audience at Liquid on Sept. 6.
It was opening night of the second 208 Comedy Fest, and the comics whose performances preceded Gill's—she was the early show's headliner—had a lot to say, too. Here are some of the best one-liners from 208 Comedy Fest, day one:
Alex Price: "The biggest mistake I ever made on marijuana was trying to make a three-Cadbury Egg omelette."
Neeraj Srinivasan: "It's not an STD. You can't catch circumcision."
Anya Volz: "Every time I have sex with someone new I can tell almost exactly where their ex-girlfriend's clitoris was."
Arish Singh, about reaching out to xenophobes: "They're welcome to sit down at my kitchen table—and eat my ass. That's my olive branch."
In all, 208 Comedy Fest will bring 60 acts to Boise this year. On Friday, Sept. 7, there will be shows at Liquid, The Olympic Venue and Even Stevens starting at 8 p.m. The event runs through 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9.
