(L-R) Freddie Murphy and Chiara Lee of Father Murphy
Italian experimental duo Father Murphy
describes its music as "the sound of the Catholic sense of guilt." This feeling came through clearest in the group's last song at the Linen Building on March 27. Over somber, eerie drones and stomping beats that called to mind someone getting beaten with a stick, Chiara Lee chanted, "triumph" and "fail" repeatedly. Given the loud applause and the dazed, astonished looks on some audience members' faces at the end, the set was more triumph than failure.
