Harvey Krishna's Deanne and Harvey Tawney sing Paul Revere and the Raiders' hit, "Indian Reservation"
Jon Hale, frontman for The Commonauts, stepped up to the mic.
"We don't know this song any better than you do," he told the crowd, "so sing along."
But the Treefort-goers at the El Korah Shrine March 25 knew the song. It was "(I'm Not Your) Stepping Stone," one of several classic tunes recorded by Idaho musician Paul Revere, who died last October. A group of Idaho musicians—including Hale, Todd Dunnigan, Thomas Paul, The Very Most's Jeremy Jensen and Revere's son Jamie—performed a 20-minute set of Revere covers in honor of the garage rock icon.
Phantahex's Grant Olsen, who sang "Wanting You," talked about growing up listening to Revere's songs on the radio.
"I never met Paul Revere," he said. "I know his daughter pretty well, so he must've been a pretty good dad."
