Harry Shearer and Judith Owen Spend 'Christmas With the Devil' but Without Tears

by

You probably know who Harry Shearer is even if you don't know him as Harry Shearer.

Along with hosting his popular radio program/podcast Le Show, Shearer voices more than 20 characters in the world of The Simpsons, including Ned Flanders, Mr. Burns, Principal Skinner, Otto, Dr. Hibbert and Kang the Rigellian, and he played much-maligned bassist Derek Smalls in 1984's This Is Spinal Tap.

Shearer is also an accomplished musician—as is his wife, singer-songwriter Judith Owen (who is an actor as well)—and they have a tradition of bringing their musical talents together with their annual Christmas Without Tears tour, a handful of live shows.

Owen and Shearer recently released a jolly new single, "Christmas With the Devil," a Spinal Tap classic. Proceeds from the tour and sales of the single benefit mental-illness charities.

Along with premiering the video for "Christmas With the Devil," Allmusic.com chatted with Owen about her jazzy take on the Tap and life with the man of a million voices.
