Pioneer children did not have iPods. They had sticks. Pioneer parents didn't look forward to Black Friday, but rather, hoped to not freeze to death.
If you or someone you know could use a little perspective and holiday cheer all in one, check out Hands-On History: Pioneer Christmas at the Idaho State Historical Museum. Attendees can look at crafts pioneers would have made and used, enjoy live music and see a marionette performance of Bertha Goes West.
Noon. $3-$5. Idaho State Historical Museum, 610 N. Julia Davis Drive, Boise, 208-334-2120, history.idaho.gov.
