Idaho Shakespeare Festival Announces 2014 Plays

by

Temperatures this week are expected to dip as low as 20 degrees. As Boiseans crank up their space heaters and unpack their winter clothes, they're recalling the warm days of summer. Thankfully, Idaho Shakespeare Festival is giving us something to look forward to with its 2014 lineup of plays. Here's what's on tap:

Deathtrap—May 30-July 25. A struggling playwright may or may not be plotting murder when one of his students produces a blockbuster script in this Broadway staple by Ira Levin.

As You Like It—June 6-27. Rosalind has been banished by her uncle in the Forest of Arden, where her exile is transformed into a mirthful adventure featuring a beloved cast in this comedy by William Shakespeare.

Les Miserables—July 3-August 31. Jean Valjean seeks redemption after 19 years in a French prison, but police inspector Javert can't believe Valjean has changed his ways in this massively popular Broadway musical based on Victor Hugo's novel.

Merry Wives of Windsor—August 1-30. John Falstaff believes he's God's gift to women, and sets out to seduce the wives of two Windsor, England, merchants; but the wives have caught wise to his scheme and have one of their own—to humiliate Falstaff—in this classic Shakespeare comedy.

Steel Magnolias—Sept. 5-28. The wit and repartee hits hard and fast in this play about patrons of Truvy's beauty salon in sleepy Chinquapin, La., where everybody who's anybody goes for hair cuts and biting banter.
