People have always tried to link beauty with virtue, as though the thickness of her hair or the sensitivity exuding from his eyes were somehow indicative of her or his inner attributes.
Friday, Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 2, at 4 p.m., the Nampa Civic Center hosts Miss Idaho USA and Miss Idaho Teen USA. For the participating women, it's a chance to compete for a sparkling tiara and move on to the national competition and, possibly, the Miss Universe Pageant.
For spectators, it's a chance to see what happens when character—a cultivated set qualities—must keep pace with innate beauty.
For many participants, curating physical attractiveness and a compelling personal story are a way of life. Contestant Chiqui Carmona-Deville wrote in a personal statement, "Maintaining a fit lifestyle is my priority, along with staying positive at all times." Contestant Yvette Bennett loves summer and chocolate, and describes herself as a "True Blue Bronco."
Tickets are $35-$55 and are available on Brown Paper Tickets.
