It took him seven months and approximately 40,000 LEGO bricks to complete, but Mihai Marius Mihu of Romania has completed an epic masterpiece: a series of nine dioramas depicting Dante's famous Circles of Hell.

Mihu's elaborate representations recall the horror and torture of Dante's Inferno—the first third of his epic, The Divine Comedy. Though in the poem Dante claimed his powers of description were inadequate to communicate the terrors that resided in hell, he provided Mihu with just enough detail to produce faithful renderings of them.

Photos of the dioramas are available at The Guardian.
