First Round of Treefort 2013 Artists Announced

Though it had yet to announce a single band on the lineup, Treefort Music Fest sold out its early passes in only 17 minutes in October.

Treefort press liaison Matt Dalley told Boise Weekly that ticket sales have since surpassed sales at this time last year.

So it should be interesting to see what happens when Boise gets a face full of the first round of band announcements, which is pasted below.

Treefort Music Festival 2013: Initial Lineup

Unknown Mortal Orchestra: Quirky indie goodness.

Shigeto: Ambient electro and live drums. A one-man act.

Japanther: Turbocharged-garage rock duo out of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Wooden Indian Burial Ground: Portland, Ore.-based psych-pop band that rocked the bejeesus out of The Crux in October.

Magic Sword: Boise DJ and old-school electronic act whose true identity is "shrouded in mystery."

Grass Widow: San Francisco post-punkers and Portlandia extras.

Messy Sparkles: Electronic dance music with a lo-fi world beat bent.

Foxygen: Sixties-style pop rock out of New York.

Radiation City: One of NPR's "Artists You Should Have Known in 2012."

White Lung: Wicked lady-fronted punk rock with hints of The Dwarves in its sound. Clearly, heirs to the vacant throne of Mia Zapata.

French Horn Rebellion: Late-night dance party in neon stretch pants.

The Last Bison: Virginia-based indie folk.

Wampire: Portland, Ore., electro-indie act that could well be referred to as Starfucker Jr.

The dozen bands listed above represent less than a tenth of the total lineup that will perform at the festival Thursday, March 21-Sunday, March 24, in downtown Boise.

The rest of the bands will be announced on a rolling basis beginning mid-January. As bands are announced, Treefort will also release episodes of a Web video series by local filmmaker Zach Voss called The Road to Treefort that go along with the announcement. The first episode is below.
