On Wednesday, Boise's new Whole Foods location will open to the public. Little more than a year after officials broke ground, the first Idaho outlet of the Austin, Texas-based grocery chain will swing open its doors at 10 a.m.

Prior to the store's opening, Whole Foods is hosting a $3 oatmeal breakfast benefiting the Idaho Foodbank, which begins at 8:30 a.m. The Boise State University marching band will arrive for a performance.

At 9:30 a.m., Boise Mayor Dave Bieter and representatives from Whole Foods will make speeches and present checks to local nonprofits, including the Treasure Valley Food Coalition, Boise Schools Foundation and Boise Bicycle Project. Just before the store opens at 10 a.m., the group will break an 8-foot-long loaf of challah bread, according to Ben Friedland, regional marketing coordinator.

That evening at 7 p.m. in the store's second-floor tap house called the River Room, Reilly Coyote will perform.
