Civic engagement is important. Serving the community in one's free time teaches habits that are valuable in maintaining a democratic society.
If you are interested in giving back today, check out the Service Saturday event at Boise State University, which is open to students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members.
Service Saturday, which begins at 9 a.m. in the Boise State Student Union Building, brings together volunteers eager to put some elbow grease into service projects at four to five local charitable or nonprofit agencies. Event organizers offer a free breakfast at 9 a.m., and groups should plan to be at individual sites from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
For more information, check out the event's website.
