Sure, running is awesome for your health. But when fall hits and it gets darker earlier, the cardio-tastic sport becomes slightly more treacherous. Runners dressed ninja-style in all black may fall victim to car collisions, uneven sidewalks and threats lurking in the bushes.
Which is why tonight's personal safety and self-defense clinic at Shu's Idaho Running Company is a good idea. The store that deals in all things running has partnered with the Boise Police Department to provide a FREE class from 6:30-8 p.m. full of tips on how to stay safe when running in the twilight hours.
In addition to useful tips, you can get rid of your old cellphone in a helpful way. The Boise Police Department gives the phones to individuals who are deemed "at risk," so that they can call 911 if need be. Clear out all those interesting text messages and contacts, then bring your phone in for donation. If it can't be used, it will go to Project ReCell, and have its parts recycled.
Call Shu's at 208-344-6604 to make sure you secure your spot in tonight's class.
