Slideshow: Carnevale Blossoms at Idaho Botanical Gardens

More than 500 people attended the second-annual Carnevale Sept. 14 at the Idaho Botanical Garden.

The family friendly party drew its inspiration from tradtional Carnevale celebrations and included local foods and drinks and a Venetian theme with an assortment of activities throughout the evening, including a fashion show, photo shoot, fire dance, fortune telling booth and more, headlined by the Red Light Variety Show.

"I'm super excited to be taking part in Carnevale once again, I'm really impressed with the turnout," said Red Light organizer Anne McDonald.

Organizers encouraged participants to dress in Steampunk style, with prizes awarded for best costume, makeup and accessories.

"I think it's awesome!" said Amber Conger, the creator of the event. "I started it last year, but this year, I am working with the Botanical Garden, who wanted to make it an 'official' event after seeing the public turnout last year."

To be sure, Conger and IBG worked well together. There was plenty of space to comfortably execute all events and the grounds were typically stunning.

"I'm out here to support the Boise art community," said reveler Sabra Haney. "I've never been to the gardens before, but I love it and the festival with its funkiness."
