In a community orgy of art, crafts, music and food, thousands descended on Julia Davis Park for the 58th annual Art in the Park.
The three-day event, which runs through today (Sept. 9), filled the park with 250 vendors from across the country, all displaying their wares for crowds eager to scoop up everything from jewelry and glass sculptures to pottery, paintings and handmade furniture. Families shoving strollers across the grass, retired couples, roving groups of pre-teens and the rest of the eclectic mix were all willing to be on their best behavior as the masses circled the booths, enjoying the lingering summer temperatures. And when the crowds got to be too much, there was always the beer garden for the grown-ups.
Art in the Park is one of the largest fundraisers of the year for the Boise Art Museum, which takes a percentage of all sales. It's not too late to check out the action; the event is open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. today.
