TIFF: Oh, Canada, You Do Love Your Films

BW is back in Toronto for the opening of the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. With a list of hundreds of films, it's a bit of a challenge to select which movies to screen. But between now and Saturday, Sept. 15, we plan to attend as many as 50 premieres.

Last year, BW readers were among the first to hear about The Artist, an entertaining black-and-white silent film from France. And, of course, The Artist went on to win the Oscar for Best Picture.

In 2010, we first told you about The King's Speech and Black Swan, which both took home a boatload of trophies.

Over the next three days, we're planning on attending Looper, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis; On the Road, the screen adaptation of the Jack Kerouac classic; Cloud Atlas, a blockbuster adaptation of the bestseller from the Wachowski brothers; and some eagerly anticipated foreign films such as Amour, Dormant Beauty and Twice Born.
