The third-annual Dirty Dash at Bogus Basin Aug. 25-26 was a mess of a good time.
Thousands of folks from the Treasure Valley and beyond piled onto a 10K loop that included hay bale jumping, monkey bars, mud pits, tunnels, a sudsy water slide, a steep march up the back side of the Bitterroot Chair and cold beers at the summit.
On Saturday, the weather was fine, high above the smoke and haze of the valley, and participants were all smiles for this not-so-competitive excuse to get some excercise on a weekend morning. Costumes and creativity were the name of the game, with participants ranging from college kids to families to retirees.
The Piglet Plunge finished off the day's festivities with a shorter lap for the kiddies. And I now know what it feels like to go for a jog after shitting your britches.
