Are you among the throngs of people who morph into art festival-goers when the weather gets warm? Well, get ready: Today, the Stanley Arts Festival will kick off a weekend filled with local art, beautiful scenery and live music.
From 10 a.m.-6 p.m., you can cruise a selection of furniture, paintings, jewelry and the like near the Mountain Village Merc, off Highway 21. You can chat up the creators of your favorite works and score some decor for your walls during this second-annual festival. A preview of what to expect can be found at the event's Facebook page.
Can't make it today? The festivities will continue Saturday, Aug. 25, with music by Tony Gilliam from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Dewey Pickett and Howe from 1-4 p.m., followed by Ken Smith and Jimmy Matheson from 4-6 p.m. And on Sunday, Aug. 26, you can catch the final day of the festival from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., with music by Chris McDonald from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
