While the Race 2 the Summit half marathon in Horseshoe Bend isn't scheduled until Saturday, Sept. 29, runners can score a deal and pick up some sweet swag on Saturday, Aug. 25, at Shu's Idaho Running Company.
The community running hub is hosting on-site registration from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, during which time registrants will have the Active.com fees waived and get a chance to enter to win a gift basket from Shu's and meet with race directors. You can even seek advice on whether you want to tackle the half marathon up the old Horseshoe Bend Road, or stick to the 10K or 5K.
Those who sign up Saturday will also get $10 off any shoes purchased that day.
The Race 2 the Summit is not only long, but a bit of a butt kicker. Staring in Horseshoe Bend, the race leads up old Highway 55, gaining more than 1,600 feet in elevation, before descending along the Old Emmett Road and finishing in Horseshoe Bend City Park.
Registration (which includes a party, T-shirt, awards and a goodie bag) costs $40 for the half marathon, $35 for the 10K, $30 for the 5K or $10 for the kids' fun run. Those who wait to register between Thursday, Aug. 30, and Friday, Sept. 14, will have to pony up a little more: $45 for the half marathon, $40 for the 10K, $35 for the 5K, but the kids' run is still $10. The last day to register online is Friday, Sept. 14.
Proceeds from the race will benefit a variety of causes in the Horseshoe Bend community.
