Sure, Boise may be a decent distance from any Latin nation, but the dance scene in the City of Trees isn't short on places to boogie down Latin-style.
Witness the Friday and Saturday dance parties at Boise Cafe, a space that boasts an Italian influence on its menu and, paradoxically, hosts salsa lessons every Friday and Saturday evening. For a nominal fee, aspiring salsa-ers can learn the basics and then practice their newly learned skills until the wee hours of the morning.
Tonight, you can celebrate the cafe's 12th anniversary with live music and painting demonstrations, flamenco and tango performances, wine tasting and plenty of social dance time. The anniversary party gets going at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $10. Beginning at 10 p.m., late arrivers can partake in the dance-only portion of the party for $5, and the party doesn't stop 'til 2 a.m.
