Hacking doesn't have the best rap—Internet hackers get in all sorts of trouble, and hacking up green things when you're sick will make people squeamish.
But today, you can explore a different world of hacking at the Discovery Center of Idaho. The house of neat-o science added a new program this summer called Hacker Space. The DCI program won't result in spam emails or phlegm—participants are encouraged to find solutions to problems using unorthodox methods, creative uses for old things and to find "hacks" for the DCI exhibits.
Bring the family for a day of brain-bending, and find your love for destruction at the Take-Apart Table, where you can dismantle old electronic devices and find new uses for the parts.
The Hacker Space program takes place Mondays from 2:30-5:30 p.m. Admission to the Discovery Center is $8 for adults, $6 for children ages 4-17 and FREE for members and children younger than 3.
