Movie theaters are great, but sometimes its tough to pass up fresh air, green grass and sunny summer skies for dark, walled-in rooms. (Although air conditioning can be pretty nice on uber-hot days.)
Fortunately, Boise offers a few options that allow you to catch a movie and enjoy the always-too-short summer season. One of which is Movies Under the Stars, where family friendly flicks are shown in Julia Davis Park at the Gene Harris Bandshell on a 30-foot screen.
Tonight's installment will feature Puss In Boots, a spinoff from the popular Shrek series. Movies begin at dusk, but there's plenty of fun to be had before the film. The Boise Parks and Recreation mobile recreation van will provide children's activities beginning at 7 p.m., including face painting, games, music and prize giveaways.
Bring a blanket, low-backed chair, flashlight and bug spray, but leave pets, booze and cigarettes at home. Food and sodas will be available for purchase, or you can bring in your own family picnic.
Movies for the rest of the series include The Adventures of Tintin on Saturday, July 21, and Hugo on Saturday, Aug. 18. For more info, click here.
