Odds are, even if you've never seen Fiddler on the Roof, you can sing at least one of the musical's songs. "If I were a Rich Man" was sort of covered by Gwen Stefani, so even pop-lovers devoid of theater experience could probably hum along.
Today, you can enjoy all the glory of the musical that won an armload of Tony Awards and has been staged for more than 40 years. Starlight Mountain Theatre kicked off its production of Fiddler on the Roof June 1, and began staging Cinderella June 16. The theater will open Legally Blonde: The Musical on Saturday, June 30, resulting in a scintillating (and probably exhausting) 20-day span of the three plays being shown in repertory before Fiddler closes Friday, July 20.
The story of Fiddler takes audiences to czarist Russia in the early 20th century. Seeing Starlight's production will take you to Garden Valley, just outside of Boise near Banks. For directions to the theater, visit Starlight's website.
The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets range from $9-$18.
