The "art" found in bars isn't often diverse—besides the velvet paintings at Red Room and the illuminated self-portraits at Barbacoa, most late-night liquor purveyors only feature dingy beer posters and dart boards.
But every once in a while, an art show will pop up in a cocktail-slinging establishment. Art in the Bar brings a slew of local artists together at the Knitting Factory to display and sell work in a space more accustomed to beer and music than brush strokes and mosaics.
You may have heard of Art in the Bar (especially if you've been reading Boise Weekly). This is the sixth iteration of the event from Dead Bird Gallery, and it will be held today from noon-10 p.m.
Admission is FREE and everyone can come cruise the art part of the event, with selections from more than 50 local artists. But bring your ID if you want to partake in the bar part.
