Every summer, Treasure Valley city folk migrate north to the relaxing vacation oasis of McCall, post up by the lake and enjoy some time away surrounded by the town's picturesque landscape. Well, unless it's Fourth of July weekend, and then McCall is full of spring break-esque chaos.
Tonight, you can pack your bags and head out of town for an event that has less to do with R and R, and more with a KO. The inaugural Battle By the Lake Boxing Classic starts at 7:30 p.m. And while you could stay in Boise for the weekend and try to mimic the action by busting out your vintage Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots game, it'd be a whole lot more entertaining to head to McCall and catch the real thing.
The Golden Glove-style amateur boxing tournament will be held at the Manchester Ice and Event Center, and tickets are available at the center or at Paul's Market. You can also call 208-634-3570, ext. 201, for tickets. Ringside seats (where beverage service is available) are $18, floor are $15. Bleacher seats run $10 for adults and $6 for youth and FREE for children younger than 6.
