Pork and beer will take center stage at Pigapalooza, a bacon-wrapped food fest in downtown Meridian that benefits women's cancer awareness. The pork party will start at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, at Generations Plaza on the corner of Main and Idaho streets in downtown Meridian. The day-long event will offer bacon, pulled pork, ribs and more from local eateries.
According to Brewforia's Tatiana Martz, the second-annual event will have at least two roast pigs.
"We're looking at a couple of pigs—big, fat, monster pigs," said Martz.
Life's Kitchen and Spud's BBQ will also sling pork alongside Brewforia, and participants can snag $1 samples or buy larger plates of pork. Attendees can also purchase a glass of beer or plunk down $20 to get unlimited beers.
Sneaking in on the tail end of American Craft Beer week, the Brewforia pig party will feature regional brews from Salmon River, Payette, Sockeye, Grand Teton and Laughing Dog.
"We'll probably have about 12 to 15 beers on tap," said Martz. "But, as you know with Brewforia, we'll have anywhere from 12 to 25 depending on how quickly we blow those kegs."
